The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed Atishi as the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. This decision was made during a meeting of AAP MLAs on Sunday, attended by party chief Arvind Kejriwal. With this appointment, Atishi becomes the first woman to hold the position of Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly.

Atishi, an MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, previously served as Delhi’s Chief Minister from 2024 to 2025. She has also led key ministries, including Education, Women and Child Development, Culture, Tourism, and Public Works Department (PWD).

Before the first session of the newly elected Delhi Assembly, AAP nominated Atishi as the opposition leader, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a majority with 48 seats and appointed Rekha Gupta as the Chief Minister.

Atishi's appointment signals AAP’s commitment to playing a strong and effective opposition role in the Delhi Assembly.

आम आदमी पार्टी (AAP) ने पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री आतिशी को दिल्ली विधानसभा में विपक्ष का नेता नियुक्त किया है। रविवार को AAP विधायकों की बैठक में यह निर्णय लिया गया, जिसमें पार्टी प्रमुख अरविंद केजरीवाल भी उपस्थित थे। इस नियुक्ति के साथ, आतिशी दिल्ली विधानसभा में विपक्ष की नेता बनने वाली पहली महिला बन गई हैं।

आतिशी, जो कालकाजी निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से विधायक हैं, ने 2024 से 2025 तक दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में सेवा की है। उन्होंने शिक्षा, महिला और बाल कल्याण, संस्कृति, पर्यटन, और लोक निर्माण विभाग जैसे महत्वपूर्ण मंत्रालयों का नेतृत्व भी किया है।

दिल्ली विधानसभा के पहले सत्र से पहले, AAP ने आतिशी को विपक्ष का नेता नियुक्त किया है, जबकि भारतीय जनता पार्टी (BJP) ने 48 सीटों के साथ बहुमत हासिल किया है और रेखा गुप्ता को मुख्यमंत्री चुना है।
